Vodpod videos no longer available.Their relationship, apparently a very close one, seems less surprising when you consider the fact that they were both extremely complex figures in a culture that resists complexity, particularly in its celebrities, even more particularly in ones who happen to be female or black.

as well as both child stars who grew up in public. though i have trouble framing the complexities of MJ in terms of race or gender, since by the end he seemed to transcend/subvert both.
Yeah, they were both members of an awfully small club: child stars who went on to become adult stars.
