Reminds me of Robert Pete Williams, but hard to peg, indeed. Hard even to figure out at first what key he’s playing in. (Open G tuning, I think.) Ulmer’s guitar sounds like no one else’s.

According to a YouTube comment, JBU uses (at least here) this guitar tuning (low to high): AAAAAE.
